We Need Spaces That Build Us Up, Not Wear Us Down
I love the change in season - April is lovely! It always makes me pause and think about what I want more of… and what I need to step back from.
And if I’m honest, I’ve been feeling something lately.
Some of the spaces we turn to for support feel… they fell heavy to me.
There’s a lot of negativity. A lot of noise. A lot of strong opinions.
And not always a lot of hope or comradery.
THIS is why myself and our team created the Neurodiversity Essentials Membership.
Those conversations matter. Of course they do.
But I keep coming back to this:
- Support should leave us feeling steadier.... Not more overwhelmed.
That’s something I’ve had to be really intentional about myself. Stepping back from what doesn’t help. Coming back to my family, my children, my work, and the people I trust.
Because we are not defined by our hardest moments.
We are also:
- Deeply perceptive
- Creative
- Passionate
- Original
- Full of strengths that don’t always get named enough
And when we’re in the thick of things, it’s easy to lose sight of that.
So this week, we gently widen the picture.
👉 Weekly Nervous System Nudge
There is a lot of noise around parenting right now.
This week, pause and ask:
Is what I’m taking in helping me feel clearer… or more confused?
More hopeful… or more anxious?
We don’t have to take everything in.
We can choose what we listen to.
And we can choose to come back to what matters.
One simple way to do that:
Name something steady and true in your child:
“I love how deeply you think.”
“You notice things others miss.”
“You care in a big way.”
Less noise.
More connection.
