A powerful 2-minute tool to reset your parenting energy

Feeling frazzled? Start here...

When my house feels like it’s teetering on the edge, or when I feel like I might explode any moment (yes, psychologists feel overwhelmed parenting too!), it’s often a sign that our nervous systems, as parents, need attention.

Psychology research suggests that you, parents, are the cornerstone of your children's regulation.

This can feel like even MORE pressure, especially if you are exhausted.

So this week, I want to gift you one of my favourite check-in tools:

👉 “Where is my nervous system today?”

It’s a fast, easy self-scan that helps you notice:

  • Am I in fight, flight, freeze, or flow?

  • What small shift could help me reboot?

Try this:
Pause. Take a breath. Ask yourself:
* Am I rushing?
* Am I tense, or cranky?
* Do I feel connected to myself? How is my breath and body?

If you’re in stress mode, one small sensory action (like cold water on your wrists or stepping outside) can help you start a reset.

This isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being aware and compassionate with yourself. You need to mind you so you can mind everyone else. Xx

Want more support this week?

Inside the EPT Neurodiversity Membership, this Thursday we’re going deeper with:

  • A full Nervous System Reboot

  • Live session with me on how to lead the family without burning out

  • Guided tools to track your own regulation week-to-week

It’s all included in our membership. And you can join anytime this week to access the live session + replay.

Passionate interests and different ways of communicating
Something I wanted to gently highlight this week is how often certain aspects of neurodivergence are misunderstood, particularly when it comes to communication and what are sometimes called “special interests.”   Many children, particularly autistic children, can have strong, passionate interests in particular topics. Sometimes these are seen as narrow or repetitive, but when you look m...
What do we actually mean by neurodiversity?
I wanted to introduce a word this week that can sometimes feel a little uncomfortable, and that is the idea of ableism.   And I want to approach it gently, because this isn’t about blame or getting things wrong. Ableism, at its core, is simply the set of assumptions we tend to carry about what is “typical” or “acceptable” when it comes to how people think, behave, learn, or communicate....
What do we actually mean by neurodiversity?
I’ve been thinking recently about how often the word neurodiversity comes up in conversation now, and how, while it’s becoming more familiar, I’m not always sure we’ve had the chance to slow down and really sit with what it means. So for the next few weeks, we will have Siobhan Campion, an autistic adhd advocate, and psychologist with EPT Clinic delivering key masterclasses and workshops...
